The Bay Area Jefferson Awards, hosted by CBS-SF television and radio, presented a silver medal to Jon Kaufman for his work with H2OpenDoors, along with 4 other local recipients of the public service award. The five silver medalists go to Washington DC in June for the national Jefferson Award ceremony. These awards were established in the 1970's by Jacqueline Kennedy as a "Nobel Prize for Public Service".
KL&P launches a new initiative for clients who spend over $1000 on an order anytime in 2017. 1000 gallons of fresh safe water will be contributed to families in need in rural Latin America through the H2OpenDoors project of Rotary. Expectations are that by year's end, KL&P will be donating 2.5 million gallons.
Jon Kaufman interviewed by CBS-SF today along with Woodside high school students from past expeditions. Anchorman Allen Martin is preparing the package for H2OpenDoor's Jefferson Award. The H2OpenDoors project has been Jon Kaufman's journey that has inspired members of Rotary clubs, friends, donors, students and supporters for the past 4 years. That group effort has caught the attention of CBS-SF and the Jefferson Award committee, who will bestow a regional award on the project.
